[ yuri laughs a little, running a hand over his face. he gets up on shaky legs to move across the room as quickly as he can to retrieve a glass of water before returning with the entire jug and settling back in again. ]
It's better when I'm prepare. I can build my nest ahead of time, start preemptively taking the pain killers, figure out how to get myself as settled as I can. Today... today was different, all around.
[ he smiles a little down at the glass in his hand, only grimacing a little when a twinge of pain shoots through him as a reminder that it's all still happening. ]
It started off similarly enough; all I could think about was the pain, about getting comfortable. But then it... but then there was you.
[ yuri gets a little quieter with this, as though he wants to keep it as much of a secret between the two of them as he can. he hopes finn can hear him through the door. ]
Your scent broke through the haze, and comforted me. But once those inner parts of me knew that there was someone I'd want to-- um. Well.

It's all I could think about. I've never had that happen before, not really. So that was new.
( finn's mouth goes dry and he tries to swallow, licking his lips nervously. his voice drops as well. generally, they've been given a decent amount of space as they get to know each other, but servants are very good at picking up on things and hearing more than one would anticipate. )

( his heart flutters at the notion. sure, much of this is biological and out of someone's control, but if yuri's body had been calling out for him? well. maybe they were onto something by putting the two of them together. )

[ he lifts his head and turns it, staring at the door as though he can see through it, can see finn on the other side. yuri lifts a hand and places it against the wood with a faint smile. ]
I know we haven't known each other long, so maybe it's too fast to say, but... yeah. I would always choose you.
( finn's eyes begin to well up with tears and he takes a moment to attempt to collect himself. what the body wants is important, but hearing that he is also what the heart wants? it's the kind of revelation that would have him on the floor if he weren't there already. )
Oh, Yuri, I-I wish I could've been in the room to. To hear you say that, ( finn finally stammers, wanting to choose the right words to say. )
That means so much to me. I care about you so much already and I just want to be there for you as much as I can!
I'll say it again. And again and again and again, until you get tired of hearing me say it.
[ yuri giggles quietly and looks up, then, at the knock on the door. when ayla announces her arrival he welcomes her in, digging finn's towel out of the pile to drape it over his bare waist. she inquires how he is, says nothing of where he's set up his nest, and leaves a tray of treats and liquids and a few, more heartier bites to eat before bowing and leaving once more.
yuri lets out a slow sigh and pouts at the door at his back. ]
I guess this means you're about to be called down to dinner.
( finn hums, pursing his lips. he is hungry and it feels as if he's gotten older since their rather innocent teatime earlier. slowly, he gets to his feet and raps on the door. )
And you need to take care of yourself while you have energy! I'll be back before you know it, though I do hope that you'll get some sleep too. ( finn lingers there for a few more beats, opening and closing his mouth a few times. )
I think I'll stay up with you as long as I can tonight.
( with a satisfied exhale, he knocks again. ) Goodbye, Yuri!
[ yuri listens for a bit, to finn getting ready to go down to dinner and finally the door clicking shut behind him. he finally collapses sideways, letting himself to just give in to wanting to groan from the pain building inside of him again. it was hard, holding it back while finn was still there, even though he knows he shouldn't.
but he doesn't want to make this any more difficult for the both of them than it already is.
he manages to sit up and eat a bit, picking at the things that are the most appealing to him--some fruits, a couple nibbles of cheese, a slice of delicate prosciutto--which satisfies a small part of him.
it's just going to be a shame that when he comes back, finn's probably going to be privy to some, ah... sounds again. ]
( finn is absolutely starving by the time he removes himself from this little bubble with yuri, stumbling down the hallway and down the stairs until he reaches the dining room. he had been so caught up in helping his future partner, he actually hadn't realized how empty his stomach was.
at the dinner table, he sits around his mother in uncomfortable half-silence as they dance around the topic of yuri being occupied. it's not as if it's abnormal, but finn simply doesn't want to discuss his hand in helping him out from afar with his mother. at all. ever.
he does cut into his cherry pastry with a small smile, gently asking if one can be sent up to yuri later.
trudging up the stairs again, he bids his mother goodnight and waits until she has retired to her rooms before he hurries down the hallway into his own so he can check in. )

finn takes a moment to let it truly sink in, to listen to the way yuri sounds when he's getting himself off. it's like he's been struck by lightning when he begins to actually picture yuri where he is in his nest, if he's naked or not, if he's ( gulp ) wearing any of finn's clothes.
he quickly changes into his pajamas and folds his dinner outfit into a neat pile for the staff to take for later. )
Yuri, I'm back, ( finn calls softly through the door, taking a seat on the floor again. )

[ well, who knew that knowledge would be that switch he was looking for. yuri lets out another sharp cry, this one ending in a gasp as he collapses back to the floor again. yuri lays there, quiet and panting, before he reaches up and lightly knocks on the door with a whine. ]

Did you get the dessert I sent up to you? It's okay if you didn't! Was just ... thinking of you earlier, that's all. It was really, really good. Cherries!

( finn giggles again, rolling from his knees onto his rear, pressing his back against the door and hugging a pillow from his bed close to his chest. )

once he's made his way to the bathroom he leans out of the door to call across the room that it's safe for finn to open the door if he wants before he shuts the bathroom door closed behind him. ]
( finn hops up immediately to gather his clothes to deliver himself, hugging them close to his chest. once he's given permission, he does brace himself and hold his breath as he opens the door. it's a wallop of a smell, even for his dulled senses, a mixture of pure yuri, sweat, and, well, sex. it's all-encompassing to him once he takes a few extra steps into the room, careful not to disturb his nest.
not wanting to be presumptuous, finn deposits the clothes on yuri's bed. he takes another precious second to briefly take in the nest itself, seeing what yuri likes, what makes him comfortable.
he doesn't dare come any closer to where yuri is hopefully relaxing in the bath, but he does call out, )
Good night, Yuri! I'll be here for you in the morning.
[ oh. he didn't expect finn to come all the way into the room!! that's a little more embarrassing than he anticipated it being. he hunkers down a bit in the water, as though finn would be able to see him through the door and watch him taking his bath. clearly not, but. ]

[ he calls it back out, grinning absolutely stupidly to himself as he finishes washing up. when yuri finally makes his way back out into his room he feels... better. not great, but better than he ever has during a heat. he has enough presence of mind to make edits to his nest with the new additions and he grabs a blanket before curling up in the center of it and falling asleep.
when he wakes up it's to just a low, throbbing cramping in his gut. it's not the usual intensity, the usual misery, and yuri already knows exactly why. he pushes himself up into a sitting position just as ayla knocks and enters, bowing a bit as she places his breakfast on just the outside of the nest. she doesn't make any judgments, though there is a small quirk to her lips as her eyes land on the pile of finn's clothing that yuri found himself cuddling with all night. he's pink as the girl leaves and he finally turns to lightly knock on the door between their rooms. ]
( he doesn't have the soundest sleep, having woken up once or twice in the middle of the night in case yuri needed him. but finn manages to get a few hours in between those small moments of panic and is still dead to the world when yuri calls for him.
however, something in him, some still-developing tether tugs at him and finn begins to stir, groaning as he rolls onto his back to stare at the ceiling of his canopy bed, having never closed the bed curtains last night. suddenly, he gasps, remembering who he is and where he is, and scrambles to get out of bed, hair sticking up and every which way. he doesn't bother patting it down when he plops himself in front of the door. )
Yuri? ( his voice is deep, still cloudy with sleep. ) Did you call for me?
[ oh. oh whatever that voice is sends a chill right down yuri's spine, it's so nice. and then comes the realization that once they're able to sleep (innocently!!) together, he'll hear that every morning when he wakes up. and isn't that just a cherry on top of an already delicious cake? ]
I'm sorry, were you still sleeping? I didn't mean to wake you, I was just checking to see if you were up.
[ still, he's glad that finn is up, as that means more time together. ]
They've brought my breakfast already. They were probably just waiting to hear movement from your room before they bring you yours. Tell me what you get, because I doubt it'll be a tray mostly full of fruit. And I want to live vicariously through you.
[ listen, he knows it's for the best; the sugar content will keep his blood sugar from dropping too low, they're naturally hydrating, and they'll go easy on his stomach. but man, he could use some bacon. ]
Mm, s'fine. I wanted to make sure you were doing okay anyway.
( he rubs his eyes with the heels of his hands, stomach grumbling already at the thought of breakfast. he can't help but feel guilty, though, knowing that yuri's feast surely focuses more on nutrients than anything else. )
Are you sure you want to know? ( finn teases lightly, wondering if he'll get waffles or crepes slathered in hazelnut spread this morning. ) Because they always give me my favorites these days. It took me a while to be, ah. Honest and let them know exactly what I liked.
( though, to be fair, the family does hire some of the best staff in the region and everything is bound to be good anyway. )
[ yuri teases him right back, grinning a little as he settles himself in comfortably after tugging his little tray of treats closer, hoisting it over the wall of the nest and into his lap.

I'm... better. I know I'm not completely out of the woods, mine usually last two or three days, but none of them are ever as bad as the first. Who knows, come this evening I may even feel up for a little stroll.
( finn chuckles, pausing their conversation for a moment to call the staff to request his breakfast be taken up as well so he can spend more time at the door. )
I hate to leave you again later, but I do have to go to some of those last-minute meetings for us, ( finn sighs, already tired of so much responsibility but also not looking forward to leaving yuri behind again. at least he can continue giving him a steady supply of scented clothes for his use. )
But I should be back in time in case you wanted to go for a walk together...
Make sure to take good notes. And don't let anyone try to tell you what we should be doing! This is our wedding. Our lives. Our ideas are more important than anyone else's opinion. ...Unless it's a good idea then maybe write it down and bring it back so we can consider it.

( though, to be fair, the family does hire some of the best staff in the region and everything is bound to be good anyway. )

I'm... better. I know I'm not completely out of the woods, mine usually last two or three days, but none of them are ever as bad as the first. Who knows, come this evening I may even feel up for a little stroll.

I hate to leave you again later, but I do have to go to some of those last-minute meetings for us, ( finn sighs, already tired of so much responsibility but also not looking forward to leaving yuri behind again. at least he can continue giving him a steady supply of scented clothes for his use. )
